Welcome to Vintage Venue

Vintage Venue

Sylvia has always loved vintage items. She loved the times spent with her mother shopping in thrift stores while living in Texas. When she was older and living in Minnesota she would frequent antique stores.  Sylvia married John in the late 80's and moved to California. Her hobby and passion for antiques grew and she taught herself how to paint and repurpose furniture. John and Sylvia started a family and had 2 boys. Tyler and Brandon have always been supportive. John and Sylvia moved to Florida in the early 2000's.

My Trinkets

Sylvia, with her family's support, expanded her hobby and they started My Trinkets. Beginning at an antique mall in Cocoa, Fl she spent most of her time picking and reselling mostly smalls and conventional antique furniture. She had many customers that recommended that she go out and start a store of her own. She continued to do vintage shows in Mount Dora, Lakeland, Orlando, Plant City and Cocoa. She moved the Cocoa  location to the Wildwood Antique Mall in Melbourne, FL to contnue her focus on painting and repurposing furniture.

DIY Create IT! Paint Workshop

Sylvia used many different types of paints even going as far as creating her own chalk based paint. A few years ago she started using Vintage Market and Design® Furniture Paint, a chalk based paint, and fell in love. She became an authorized retailer and started painting all of her furniture in the new paint line. This allowed her to produce classic pieces with a perfect finish. She had many people inquire how she was able to make her furniture look that way. Sylvia started the DIY Create IT! Paint Workshops. She was able to show how no preparation was required and with the many colors that Vintage Market and Design® Furniture Paint has her creativity was limitless. She started having weekly classes based in Cocoa, FL at the Vintage Thistle Antique Store.

Vintage Venue... from dream to reality

John and Sylvia started looking for retail space back in 2013. They finally found the perfect location on South US HWY 1 in Rockledge, Florida in June of 2014. A spacious 2500 square foot warehouse with plenty of room to sell the vintage items that have made all of this possible. It all started with painting a 17 foot high wall (she's a beauty... wait till you see her). Sylvia and her family worked for the next month preparing the space for retail including having air conditioning installed and riding a floor buffer to prepare the floors. Vintage Venue opened July 12th, 2014 and has been a dream come true! Sylvia gathered a few of her friends to help fill the warehouse with the best in eclectic vintage items. It really is a sight to behold! Our favorite exclamation we hear when someone comes in is 'WOW', and then you see in thier face, our feelings, when they light up and smile. It really is a dream come true!
